Department of Earth and Environmental Studies (EAES) Advisory Board

The following is an excerpt from a letter to Wayne DeFeo from Duke U. Ophori, Ph.D, who is a Professor and Chair of the EAES Department at Montclair State University.

The Earth and Environmental Studies faculty is dedicated and passionate about its mission in both teaching and research in many areas. We are currently undertaking a strategic planning process that will clearly identify our strengths and weaknesses, challenges, opportunities, along with an action plan for the next 1 to 5 years. We are hopeful that this plan would be beneficial to the department and help us achieve our goals through partnerships with the Montclair State University (MSU) administration and potential outside stakeholders and foundations. In particular, the plan would address the following:

  • Key stakeholder and their requirements
  • Departmental value proposition for each stakeholder group
  • Define department's core capabilities
  • Identify strengths of the departmental core capabilities
  • Identify weaknesses of the departmental core capabilities
  • Identify external threats to departmental success and their level of significance
  • Identify emerging opportunities and their level of significance

In addition to other issues, we would present the strategic plan to the Board for their input and advice on areas of focus, curricular needs, intern and student placement opportunities, emerging issues, and fundraising strategies.

We would be honored if you consider our invitation favorably.

Sincerely,

Duke U. Ophori, Ph.D Professor and Chair, EAES Dept.
