Pemberton Township Public Schools Recycling Education
Pemberton Township Public Schools
The following is a letter from Pemberton Township Science Supervisor, Mary Capriotti.
The program that Wayne DeFeo presented on Wednesday, October 1, 2003 to the students of Pemberton Township High School was outstanding. Mr. DeFeo was clear, and concise with his objectives and his presentation brought the issue of the importance of recycling a reality to the students. The students were involved in activities based on his presentation and the outcome of this worthwhile lesson is life long.
The students are writing letters to the Heinz Corporation regarding the non-recyclability of their packaging. The students learned so much about how and what can be recycled. The expertise of Mr. DeFeo and the tour of the facility brought about much awareness among the students. The students are now passing the word to their peers.
We all learned a major lesson that the Earth is our home and that it is the responsibility of each and every one of us of all ages to practice recycling in order to protect our environment for the present and future generations.
The students really want to get the school involved with the recycling of bottles, plastics and cans. They are contacting the Environmental Club so that they may work together to submit a proposal to purchase recycling containers for the school. We will keep you informed of our progress.
