New York Moves to Mandatory Residential Composting
Wow, who would have thought that NYC would beat New Jersey to the gate for residential composting. The City is moving to gather organic material, food and yard clippings and make it mandatory to recycle these materials in all five boroughs. I suspect that a good deal of the residential composting material will go to digesters, not composters.
Even so, it is a good step forward. The key will be, can we get clean material and can we encourage the highest and best use of this material.
New Jersey needs to catch up. One way of doing this is to get the approval process for new food composting facilities online!
