A Great Landscaping Term; Blandscaping
When a new development is designed and built, the landscaping is typically truly bland. The term Blandscaping has been used to describe this uniform method of landscape design. In essence, it is the landscaping of the monoculture…all grass, typical landscape plants that are uniform in number and layout…uniform and boring.
It is the landscaping that says…” We are humans and we know how to make a landscape better than nature.” Of course, we don’t do a better job than nature. Notwithstanding the presence of trees and lawn and shrubs, most developments are creating a sterile landscape that has little to no value for wildlife, requires large amounts of water and chemicals to maintain and is in fact….bland.
