Construction waste is a real issue and a real problem. In a perfect world, it should be reclaimed and reused as much as possible. Organizations like USGBC keep trying to ratchet down to make sure that there is less construction waste from a job site.

As I have noted before, I think that USGBC has been misguided and in fact created a system that encourages companies to simply forgo the effort and landfill their waste. That is a shame.

However, as the attached report shows, it is possible to reclaim and reuse most of what we call construction waste. Remember, waste is nothing more than a misplaced resource. The key is that the efforts must be cost effective. That is another discussion.
