In light of all of the bad news that we hear lately, I thought that another good news story about people TAKING ACTION was called for.

We are probably all aware that there are many abandoned, leaking oil wells in this country, about 3.9 million to be more precise…all of which leak methane and of these, there are at least 126,000 orphaned wells. Now let’s not get started on how we should trust fossil fuel companies to do the right thing….and pay for their closure…that will be a different discussion…. But three high school students decided to do something rather than rant about the issue…

The students decided to raise funds and pay for the closure of one of the leaking oil wells in Ohio by donating the funds to the Well Done Foundation, an organization that raises funds to plug orphaned wells.

The students raised $11,000 and the well is closed……

They are now raising money to plug a second well…
