An Article on the Obvious About Recycling Correctly
This article states the obvious. Just because people care about recycling, that does not mean that they will recycle correctly.
It is good that people want to recycle. It is bad that they really don’t know how or what to recycle. The recycling of the wrong materials is actually worse than not recycling correctly at all in some ways.
Just recently I observed a neighbor putting out styrofoam, foil backed bags, and insulation from these new prepared food packages…
I spoke to him and he was very nice…but clearly did not know that these items were not recyclable…HE wanted to do the right thing..
After explaining how our program worked, I waived and said good day…and to his credit he sorted and placed the correct items in the correct containers…
The moral? Zeal does not equal knowledge…
We must continue to educate.
