California has moved to correct a problem with their initial plastic bag ban. Specifically, they are moving to remove the exception for “heavy duty” reusable bags made from plastic…..and mandating that reusable bags get back into the recycling stream at some point.

Further, they have taken a step that we tried to get done in New Jersey but failed due to lobbying by the plastic industry…allowing the use of paper bags. Remember that we can recycle paper bags easily. California has also moved to mandate that the paper bags contain post consumer material.

We can do that!
