In spite of all of the bad news that we hear about countries not cooperating, the United Nations has embarked on negotiating a globally binding treaty designed to reduce plastic in our environment. As National Geographic reported, this will have a larger impact than the Paris Climate Accord. Why? Because when the world targets plastic with a treaty it is legally binding and thus has more clout.

If the treaty is adopted, a future President can’t just say no..

This will be complicated and it will take time. However, it is a start and it will send a warning to companies that it is time to clean up their act.
