Connecticut Bottle Bill, Still There and Still Growing
The recent interview with Steve Changaris, VP for the Northeast Region of the NWRA summed up the basic problems with bottle bills very nicely. As many of you know, I have never been in favor of a bottle bill. While some think of them as EPR, they are in fact a waste of time, revenue and in all probability, a source of increased air pollution due to increased trucking.
Bottle bills were originally conceived to fight litter. Old style deposits were in place to get back valuable glass bottles. Times have changed.
It is time for the bottle bill to adapt or die.
